Vietnam

Dear Jack,

Well, today I got your letter and I also got back from an operation, and I also got drunk Bookoo (Vietnamese – plenty) of beer.

We got some action.  Messed ‘em up seriously.  We've been on operations for the past three weeks now, all successful.  Yesterday, we blew up some VC bunkers we found in a stream bed in the jungle.  We found enemy rockets, rice, and documents + N. Vietnam flags.

I didn't tell you but in the first operation we were on his hill and a whole company of NVA ( North Vietnamese Army) was crossing the stream.  We saw them.  Guns up!  I got my M- 60 machine gun and opened up.  So did the other 2 machine guns. They didn't know which way to go.  The next day we went down to check out the area and found bodies all over the banks.  Well I'm sure that some must have been my kills but since 2  other guns were on the job at the same time, I don't know how many I got, so no confirmed for our team.

I've made team gunner.  I now have it M- 60 and a 45 pistol.  Get some!

I'm not as bloodthirsty as I  may sound.  Really!

I heard on the radio that a Marines will be DC on that demonstration for anti-riot purposes.  Well, those long-haired freaks can't hang it the fuck up if they pull any shit.  That's affirmed!

Glad to hear you are doing well at PU.   You must have it made in your social life with a car.  The Chevy?  I'm saving up for a Chevelle.

Keep away from the demonstrations.  Please!  Just for your own health!  They are no good, no matter what side you are on!

Give Jenifer kiss for me brother.

Your brother, Pete

PS.  Keep up the good work.
